Jet engines power curve is slow and gradual in building up thrust. I don't know if I could say the same for the engines used on the F22 though.

exactly, but once they get moving speed builds exponentially. if you get a prop plane with the same amount of thrust as an f22, all things being equal except for the prop vs turbine, the prop will out accelerate the turbine, but the turbine will win top end.

lulz, they'll both produce the same amount of thrust but the prop will be overcome with drag first, while the turbine will have a lot of lag.
